WHAT IS TEST AND TAG?
Test and Tag is the process of checking the electrical safety of appliances in a workplace. This process, outlined in detail within Australian/New Zealand Standards 3760 & 3551, first involves a thorough visual inspection of the appliance for any damage or manufacturing defects, followed by a series of electrical stress tests with an appropriate Portable Appliance Tester. After passing these tests, the item is fitted with a easily-identifiable and damage-resistant tag, detailing its testing and required re-test dates. At the conclusion of a job, our clients receive a PDF file summarising the testing performed for their own records. Test and Tag is not just for everyday appliances, but also incorporates the testing of other electrical safety devices such as switchboard-mounted RCD’s.
WHAT IF AN APPLIANCE FAILS?
Electrical failures are more common than many realise, but are often invisible to the untrained eye. In rare instances, appliances can even be manufactured in ways that pose risks to electrical safety. The majority of items that fail inspection can be repaired on site, however, by qualified team members at The Test Man.
WHO NEEDS TEST AND TAG?

Every business has a duty of care to provide a safe environment not just for their employees, but anyone that may visit the premises or come close to the work being conducted. Test and Tag legislation helps ensure the safety of all within workplaces by identifying dangerous appliances before they can cause injury.
Certain industries, such as construction, require more frequent testing due to their heavier workload and harsher conditions on appliances. Generally, these are as follows:

Other areas, like office spaces, can vary from 1-5 years depending on conditions and the client’s needs.
